Teen Therapy

“But I ignore things and I move sideways, until I forget what I felt in the first place. At the end of the day, I know there are worse ways to stay alive.
‘Cause everyone is growing and everyone is healthy. I’m terrified that I might never have met me.”

Growing Sideways, Noah Kahan

Sometimes it feels like you’re barely holding on.

It takes all your time and energy to navigate the pressures of school, prepping for college, your social life, relationships, family, and extracurricular activities.

There’s so much to stay on top of. It’s as though you’re either stuck in overdrive, unable to slow down, and take a moment for yourself. Or you’re completely shut down, alone in your room, hiding from everything.

No matter what you do, it never feels like you can’t strike the right balance.

“I just wanted you to know that this is me trying. I just wanted you to know that this is me trying. At least I’m trying.”
This is Me Trying, Taylor Swift

You’re struggling while everyone else seems to be thriving.

It’s impossible not to compare yourself to the people around you. You look at them and wonder how they make it look so easy.

You have trouble fitting into social groups at school and never feel like you measure up to other peoples’ expectations.

Relationships struggle as you become more frustrated. Why is everything so difficult?

“You’re faking a smile with the coffee to go. You tell me your life’s been way off line. You’re falling to pieces every time.”
Bad Day, Daniel Powter

No one understands what you’re going through.

The people around you want to help, but they don’t know how, and you’re not comfortable opening up to them.

You cope as best you can by turning to unhealthy habits and distractions.

But any solution you come up with is only a temporary fix and leaves you feeling worse in the long run.

“You’re broken down and tired of living life on a merry go round and you can’t find the fighter but I see it in you so we gonna to walk it out and move mountains. We gonna walk it out and move mountains.”
Rise Up, Andra Day

There is another way.

You don’t need to continue to struggle on your own like this. Regardless of what you’re dealing with, it is possible to find peace and healing.

What you need is a safe place to work things through and express yourself without pressure or judgment. Sometimes you might feel like talking, and sometimes you might not. Either way, you get to call the shots.

Therapy can help you learn essential life skills, manage emotions, repair relationships, and connect more deeply with yourself and others.

“Turn up the music, turn down the lights, I got a feelin’ I’m goin’ be alright. Okay (okay), alright. It’s about damn time.”
About Damn Time, Lizzo
